What's included

Every carved surrounds & ashlar job, done right

Window & Door Surrounds

Heads, jambs and cills cut and built to frame an opening square and true, matched to the house where needed.

Quoins & Corners

Dressed corner stones set to line and level so the arris runs straight from footing to eaves.

Mullions & Ashlar

Mullions, transoms and coursed ashlar cut on the banker and laid with tight, even joints.

Matched To The Building

New surrounds cut to the profile and stone of the original so an addition looks like it was always there.

Questions

Common questions, plainly answered

Do you cut the stone yourselves?

Yes. Surrounds, quoins and mullions are cut and dressed on the banker by hand, so the profiles and joints match the job rather than being bought in as a standard size.

Can you match an existing surround?

In most cases yes. We take the profile off the original and cut new stone to the same section, so a repaired or added surround carries the same lines as the rest of the building.

What is ashlar?

Ashlar is finely dressed stone laid in level courses with thin, even joints, as opposed to rougher rubble work. It is the smooth, squared stonework you see on tenement and villa façades.

Can you do carved work for a new extension?

Yes. As well as repairs we cut fresh surrounds, quoins and ashlar for extensions and porches, matched to the existing house so the new build ties in.
